Samsung Research America receives 2018 Red Dot Design award for outstanding design of ‘Ask an Expert’, a mobile health service
MOUNTAIN VIEW, California – September 13, 2018 – Samsung Research America (SRA), an advanced research and development center of Samsung located in Silicon Valley, received 2018 Red Dot Design award for a health related mobile application in the category of Communication Design.
SRA was recognized for the outstanding design of ‘Ask an Expert’, a mobile health service within the Samsung Health app. ‘Ask an Expert’ is a B2C telehealth service, designed and developed by the Mobile Payments and Security, Health lab. The service lets the patient see doctors for a wide range of health concerns that do not require an in-person visit. It connects consumers with board-certified health care providers for a wide variety of non-emergency medical care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. By making doctors and clinicians available when and where you need them, ‘Ask an Expert’ offers convenience, affordability, and increased access to quality health care.
The Red Dot Design Award is an international design competition that distinguishes the best in design and business. The award has three disciplines: Product Design, Communication Design and Design Concept. Mobile app designs are under the category of Communication Design. Every year, 24 international judges select the winners. Designers, agencies, and companies from 45 countries participated in this year's competition, which received more than 8,600 entries. It is one of the most sought-after quality marks of good design.
This is the third design recognition that ‘Ask an Expert’ has received. Previously, it received the iF Design Award and A' Award, both highly acclaimed international design awards.
Alex Guan, Principal Designer at Samsung Research America, said, “This is a tremendous honor and a significant recognition of our efforts to transform how consumers can access the healthcare industry.”
